At Life Stream Resources we listen, taking the time necessary to
understand the needs of the organization and its people; gaining
a clear picture of what the issues or difficulties are and learning
what has already been done. Difficulties, problems or issues that
are present simply indicate a need or desire for change. The task
is to hold the larger picture that can account for the whole of
the organization rather than simply focus on answers to a particular
problem. Answers never arise from identifying causes. It is necessary
to identify the conditions that underlie the causes. The question
we hold during this investigative period is what are the missing
links between the efforts that have been made and the needs and
goals of the organization. How are decisions made; how are its
assets being used and what limits the full utilization of these
assets. At Life Stream Resources
we choose to utilize our skills and capacities and those of the organization
to draw out not only the difficulties being confronted but the strengths
as well.
Often our greatest weakness is an unacknowledged strength.
The single greatest asset of any organization is its people. So
in addition to addressing the organizational development needs
we believe it is most productive
to help people understand how they see themselves and the impact this has
on their decisions, choices and actions. This then facilitates
an opening to change
the way they see and perceive their jobs, what they are capable of and what
they can or cannot do. This shift in perspective, in the way
you look at or think
about something, allows for change that is not problem driven but solution
focused as we are only constricted by what we believe we see.
We understand that most
people have many misperceptions and inaccuracies about what and who they
are and the belief systems they hold but no longer serve them.
What they've been
taught about what is possible or not and how 'things' are supposed to work.
These distortions are magnified when
work teams are brought together to achieve a common
goal as they then influence perceptions both individually and collectively
about what the task, issue or problem is that one is confronting
and what the course
of action might be. The difficulties that any of us face, as an individual
or an organization stem not only from the external realities
or challenges but also
from a diminished or lack of clarity about our capacities or capabilities.
Once these are present one is able to know what contributions
one can make. This is
authenticity – the expression of the core self that is unique to the
individual. To be aware of and utilize the skills, talents, attributes, and
abilities that
one carries beyond those acquired through training or education is life producing;
connecting us to the best of what and who we are.
A profound understanding
of these personal, professional and organizational issues, how they function
